I reckon it would still be worth a go with gravel.

I reckon I will give it a go right now....I have the fish and the system is running so with some strawberry runners I will be in business.
I need to find somewhere in Brisbane that has Strawberry runners for sale....anyone know where ?

I found a place in Tassie that sells certified stock but their minimum order is 100 plants for 295.00 plus post. I don't mind paying good money for good certified runners, but I will only want about 10 or 15. What would I do with the rest of them?

I rang my local B place and they are all sold out already, so does anyone know where ????

I agree VB, I think gravel will do the trick fine. I will put some of my gravel out of my pot plant filter to get thr Grow Tower going with bacteria.

I can bring u out some plants tomorrow. They are not really runners anymore but it will be worth you considerring them. I haven't botherred with my strawberry garden this year - just left it there from last year so it is a mess. Piles of plants though. Will try and get some decent ones out for you.

Fantastic... I see more and more reasons why we Brisbane local persons should get together soon....mutual assistance and shareing of ideas and mutual assistance.
Have you purchased the steel yet for your grow bed stand ? What are you going to get ? I am making mine from 50 x50 x 5 angle and some 50 x 10 flat for the bolt on leg struts.....ideas ????

Have to learn to weld first Murray. Bought a decent mask and chipper today - so will hopefully have my first go at it this afternoon on some flat iron.

I will follow your lead on this one Murray as you know what is required to support the fibreglass.

I haven't bought any steel yet except 3m of flat stuff to practice on. I will have to ask around to find a decent supplier around here - one that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.
