Johnnie,
There is a website here in the US connected to Ivillage. They have a section on hydroponics and there are a few folks there who are into AP. Some of them have posted similiar pictures of thier systems and what they look like to me are sections of 4 inch DWV with holes bored into it. Then the plants are growing either in mesh pots, or the pipes are filled with coconut husk cor(sp?). I don't know if they are running thier systems totally flooded or just with "wet feet" like you are describing.
