Well, I guess I can blame my doctor for my contributing to the diminishment of the ozone layer. He has me on meds to reduce the cholestrol, and well it has a side effect that causes me to be a toxic, noxious gas producer!

It is interesting to me, how we might wander off of the subject, but many interesting subjects end up getting discussed this way. :)

Mine always said that I was "obtuse". I didn't know if they meant I was working at something other than a 90 degree angle.

I know that in the fish hatchery buisness aluminum tanks are used for many differant things up to and including holding the fish while they are being transported to areas that they are going to stock.

Here is a link to the type of tanks I have seen and used before.

I have never heard that this type of tank would cause any problems.

I hope this helps.

Interesting Shawn, I don't know what the difference is between marine grade and normal aluminium, certainly worthy of further consideration

Not many people over here weld aluminum. Whenever you have an aluminum casting crack or break it can be almost impossible in some of the more rural places to find a shop that welds it.

Ell, I think the difference is about like that with aircraft aluminum and the regular stuff. It all has to do with the formulation and the tensile strength that results. We have an aluminum foundry near here and I went through the plant tour with some high school kids. The basic information that they gave on the tour was that all sorts of items can be made from the raw materials, but depending upon the formulation that they use, the heating and annealing processes, etc., they can get various degrees of quality in regards to machineablity, strength and heat endurance. The plant makes everything from intake manifolds for Chevrolet Corvettes and Caterpillar earth moving equipment to flywheels for big trucks and race cars! (They started out casting lawn mower decks back in the 1940's.)
