You may all recall that early in this thread we had a chat about the little red wormlike creatures that seem to live in the ponds and grow-beds. This was prompted by AA's mention of aquaworms - a different thing altogether.

Those who went to the lectures will now know what these wormlike things are. They are the larvae of a fly. I cannot read my writing where I wrote down the name of the fly, but Dr Lennard talked about it stating that is what his little rainbows will feed on in the DWC channels.

Can any of you guys recall the name of the fly.

It is good when we get anwers to these things, even if months after originally raised :D .

I expect so AA - but Lennard had the scientific name for the midge/fly.

Perhaps putting a lid on your tank and venting it to the outside environment would be a way to solve your humidity problem.

Cheers Megan

Tried it. You can't stop humidity when it is the rising damp from an entire hillside. Only real solution was concreting the floor. To justify this I'd need to dig another foot deeper, it just got too hard in there for a tiny space, I got the outstanding results I sought, and the figures to recreate this, goals achieved, time to move on...

So now it's time to go bigger, and looking out my window now, I am pleased to see this dream is very close to reality.
