I was going to recommend a small circular saw. I have one that uses only a 31/2 inch blade! It ought to be small enough to be easy to handle, and yet the circular saw is more prone to accurate straight cuts. I've got all of the other tools, and while they would work, I would prefer a much simpler method. Does anyone have a good source for primer cord? (Ooops! Homeland Security will be knocking on my door now! )

Sawzall, jigsaw, circular saw, all would work. Anything that has enough of a tooth to strip the plastic. Too small a blade will melt it, then you might as well use the primer cord. Oxyacetelyne cutting torch would work too, but would stink.

I have an 18V cordless sawzall and circular saw. They should make short work of it. Drop by to borrow if you need. I'm only 8-10 hours from you....

I ended up using a circular saw...and quickly learned how much fun hot plastic isn't. It cut the barrels tho, so it's onto the next step. I think a jigsaw may have been a better choice...but the circular saw sure did make short work of the barrels. Thanks to all for the advise.

That's good Boch, took one for the team - so we can put circular saws at the bottom of the preferred tools then
