two schools of thought there... You don't have to wait, you can plant your plants straight away, but they will be very slow growing for a while till things begin to cycle, then they will take off..

The most important thing is to enjoy it!

He,he... check this out... this is what we've been doing in our class.

Spotty, Piranah and DJ are now growing a lovely geranium. Its a bit stinky though... are there any plants which we shouldn't grow?

imy, stinky is usually bad and can mean there is not enough O2.

talk us through the picture, is one of the clear hoses water in and one water out? do you have an air stone in the aquarium?

in a set-up like that i'd have water in via a tube, and lots of little holes at the bottom of the container for a "spash" effect" drain.

gee its hard typing with a bandaged finger, just sliched it with a "box-cuter" an hour ago, is heavilybandaged and probably needs stitches which i won't end up geting................;)

Okay here's how it goes.

There is an air pump.
There is a powerhead style pump taking water from the tank up those little hoses and onto the rocks (fish tank gravel) it then seeps through and goes through some little holes I poked into the tub's bottom, back into the main tank.

Ta Da!

how long has the tank been set up as a fish tank, is there any other filter or under gravel filter? (not that there has to be)

Nope, it had an under gravel filter but it wasn't operational.
