Steve, are you fair dinkum, or are you taking the piss ?? Can I reverse-cycle a freezer, and would it be costive to run if I did ?
I'm setting up a gravity-fed hot water tank (Beasley) as a pond heater for future use, but any efficient heating system would be considered.

Damn straight i'm serious.

let me think............... they'd be capillary system so the simplest way would be to swap the discharge and suction lines over at the compressor. obviously you would loose the gas and need to re-charge.

You may loose a tad due to a now undersized suction line, but COP of CHEAP A/C's are about 2.5:1 (2.5x the heat for the same powered electric heater) Low temp refrigeration will be a little less.

problem is that you're going to ice the coil on the back, so make sure that its not in the living room ;) It would be better to re-size the capillary so that it runs at above zero temps, say 5C (shorten it) but this is getting a little more complicated.

I'll actually do one and take some pics for ya, but i can't say exactly when (summer+wedding+BAP= no time;))
Steve

hey that would be a "cool" way to harvest your fish. When they are the right size, simply turn on the freezer and feeze them as they swim!!

Or you could design your system properly and not need to heat at all!
/me shudders at the ways people come up with to waste energy.

Or try biting your tounge while your brian catches up sometimes..................

my INDOOR aquarium requires heating during the winter.

Anyone who wishes to keep tropical fish needs heating in the winter.

Dead set you don't have a consructive bone in your body, do you?

actually, don't answer, i can't be *frack* reading though the page of dribble searching for a two word answer.
