be careful with bubble size as you can do damage to the fish if the bubbles are too small. Many marine systems with a sump under neath had problems where the return pump sucked in bubbles from the protein skimmer . this resulted in micro bubbles in the tank which damaged both corals and fish.

This really needs looking into before you try it....

I have read many things on how that is just a myth.
I seriously doubt anyone is keeping coral in their tanks anyway! :)
IMO they will do no damage whatsoever to fish.

But is it just fishmans opinion vs your opinion or is there some experience behind it ?
No harm in giving it a go though...

The Japanese paper shows koi etc. in nano bubble water so it can't be that bad for them. Not sure about the ozone reference in the paper though - if ozone bubbles are being made or something...

Japanese paper use O2 and O3.
Not air
Japanese paper also mention that salt water can make micro bubble to be nano bubble and stay months in water.

So fishman may be right

Actually with that many little bubbles, you could probably stick your head in the tank and get a close up, without coming up for air !

Why would they put koi in it if it was harmful though?

I got the vague feeling that was in reference to using ozone in an industrial process.

That little unclear bit aside, I wish all scientific papers were in that cartoon format :)

I have been told by the guys at the LFS (same owner for 29 years) that bubbles too small can be ingested by fish and be harmful. Just 2nd hand info, but I've heard it, too.

Great links Ao+. Especially that second one. That sounds like the technical explanation I got from my LFS guy, but couldn't remember. Fish drowning in water because there's air sticking to their gills.
