Wow, you look like you're having a ball!

Love the retaining walls. Lots of tanks, mmm, all good!

HOLEY MOLEY! You've got it BAD too! :)

Have you had much experience with retaining walls before, I LOVE them, but my backyard is FLAT. i was actually just outside builing a bit of a contour around the tank. The fences at my place are ready to be replaced, so i could get the new ones put on an angle to accomodate my much wanted "levels and retaining walls", but how would this go with the neighbours flat yards and the fence line? Dhould i give up and just deal with my FLATNESS ? :)

Steve, its the opposite for me, no flat land (except for where the pool is), even the house has stairs because of the slope (although its one story)

Personally i would prefer abit more flatness, but then they do say "you want what you cant have"

F&F, is that how the retaining wall is going to stay? or are you going to plant plants in the middle of the tyres, and have it cascade down the slope.

Either way, it looks good

On flat land you would need to have access to the back yard to get a m/c in also soil if you like no 1 son lives in glenroy could call some day 2 heads are better than one

Steve, I've seen your yard, and I would say work with the flatness not against it, but just my opinion

Stu, mum and dads place had a retaining wall because it was a block with a slope, and one of our friends place is "double storey" at the front and single at the back becasue of their slope, they have three teirs in their backyard, it make it feel like three distictly seperate area. I like it. Realisticly i don't this this is possible where i live  but i will be making my yard a bit more "hilly" at the least :)

F&F, were the tyres just used for the gradual cascade down, or could i use them to give my yard "hills" without using so much dirt?

Steve

In my case tyers were just used as a cheap retaining wall i have other walls made from scoria rocks but at $2000 a wall to dear when doing a retaining wall on a flat block you can fill the top space with any thing [old tyers bricks as long as it wont collapse] A site inspection will give more idea

My lawn has improved greatly adding fish water and mowing without catcher. I had 100 mm topsoil 4 years ago. Now I have 300 mm. Ouch on the scoria walls price!

Go tyres!

Steve, I'm jealous of the flatness too. We only have flat ground where we've made it happen.

I'm going to call a friend with a bobcat now and offer him beer to make some flat ground for us!

Don't you love the beer economy, especially when it's home-made!
