i am concerned at the amount of solid waste that will settle on the bottom of the fish tank wont this cause the water to go bad and kill the fish :?

If you have a pump that can handle the solids they would most likely get pulverized when they pass through to the growbeds

Auto, welcome to the forum, not sure on how you intend setting up your system but some of us have gone with venturi drains located centrally in a round tank...this removes all fish and food waste to the grow beds.

These pics may give you a bit of an idea of what I mean
Venturi drain parts - central down pipe and outer covering pipe

Water pumped into tank to provide a swirling motion

Look at 2nd picture for more clarity, bottom of tank clear of any crap
Solids get sucked up and out of fish tank

the fish themselves will kick up the solids and allow the pump to remove them, trust me!

When i had the trout in the spa there were NO solids in there, now that the tank is fallow there is a deep layer of solids that i kick up with a net every few days. (the solids come from the main tank and settle out.

'Fallow' - not a word I have heard in many a year. Do farmers even continue the practise of fallow paddocks anymore or is it all just fixed with more chemicals?

Don't forget just preEdison and post Darkages was the candle era :-) That sort of murky half light time, when stuff got done, and bad stuff at night :-) Just enough light to make the darkness all that blacker.

and the reason stuff was done on a moon lite night...
something we forget when living in the city,
the stars and moon have a greater effect when away from the lights
because we can still see things at night in the bush.
