OK, I have this fully functioning now.

a small 24/7 pump slowly fills beds that quickly drain via auto siphon. I've run it completely hassle free for two weeks and have now improved this design to a larger system for in my greenhouse.

Moving parts = one cheap pump that's very hard to kill.
