Please forgive me, I haven't done a project for someone else before, so I'm in the dark.
I am just beginning to see what an engineer can do.
I guess my first question should be; What type of materials would be easiest for amateurs to create with?
I did my media beds out of lumber and lined them.
I'm inclined to say, "Let's skip the blocks."

I think wood is easier to work with because pretty much anyone can build with wood... Blocks are a bit more difficult of a skilled trade IMO... Wood will also give you a little more flexibility in the size of the beds because you can cut them a lot easier than blocks... Plus they don't take up as much width... And would be a little easier to position where you want them I would think because you can build them and move them as needed before filling them. The blocks you better hope they are where you want them.

If it were me it would be wood, but I'm not experienced with masonry so I wouldn't have considered it myself...

The thing about engineering software is it's so easy to move things around while you try to figure out what works best... You could pull out the graph paper and draw the basics up and copy it a few times then sketch things in to try and scale it, but that is a lot more work than sketching it up in CAD... Plus I can add the 3D aspect so you really get a feel for space... I have a couple of stick figure people drawn up for size comparison based on my build, I will shrink it down to make little people to see how crowded it gets once we have an idea what we are doing.

Thanks Rob. I appreciate your work and thoughts getting me on-track for this project. Wood frame DWC tanks it is. Unless convinced otherwise, I'll go with a locally sourced plastic stock tank for the FT.
We can remove or modify existing dirt beds to make room where you may want more space for DWC tanks.
