rpm- couple things - 1 - The basic design would be the same as your current design. The difference is to have a GB hooked up underwater to the tank so taht when the top tank is being filled, some of the water is comming from the tank, and some is comming from the GB. That way, when water is pumped from the tank, teh GB drains and keeps your fish from going too dry. The Tank would have to be deeper than the GB that you are draining. There were some good diagrams somewhere on here. I think it was in the continuous flow thread.... I'll chack and find a link.
2- catching fish - as Janet said, check local regulations. Also, make sure you quarantine _ANY_ fish and treat with a salt solution of something - see DTHawk's panic thread, and several others. Failure to quarantine in seperate water has caused many HSMs!
3- St. Louis isn't all that bad as long as you don't hit it at the wrong time... Of course my wife won't drive there. Her first experience was in 30 min. she saw 5 near accidents, and one of them was with her. (I figure she just wasn't used to St. Louis Traffic...you have to touch to have an accident....

Ok,

So...we compromised. I just purchased THIS

For what I paid for it, I could have nearly purchased the greenhouse I wanted in the first place....but whatever, it's a start and DH is pacified. I will not be using the reservoir, but will have it pumping out of my aquarium instead. I also figure that if I ever DO get my coveted greenhouse I can use the controller for larger growbeds instead of the pots. Now, I am trying to figure out what I can grow in my sunroom with THIS as my supplemental light source. I am going to try some light hungry plants in the brighter areas, and some more forgiving herbs in the darker spots. It seems to me the pots will be more suited to larger, upright plants with maybe some leafy underplantings. Than again, it may be a total flop...but I hope not! Any planting suggestions?

Plant what your husband likes to eat! How about tomatoes with an underplanting of lettuce?
