Have seen one galv tank (been onsite since the 1960's) that had started to rust out. Was leaking with pin hole leaks.

So we lined it with chicken wire and rendered it with cement from the inside! The cement had some special agent mixed in with it. I'll find out what it was.

I guess my concern is with the water chemistry. Not sure if metal or chemical compounds would leach from the unsealed galv tank into the water.
