A water bridge is what I call a "Zero head gravity transfer" this means that you have next to no difference in water level on on side to the other.
there is a formula
Head = flow * resistance.
so, if you pump water in, and the levels have a noticeable height difference, then this height difference (head) is proportional to flow * resistance.
as you want your flow in the water bridge to equal the inflow, we can cancel the term out, as it becomes a constant. So Head is proportional to resistance
If you want the head to be less, decrease the resistance by using a larger pipe.

Conversely, if we say head is to be the constant of almost 0, then flow is now proportional to the inverse of resistance, so to increase flow you must decrease resistance.

Either way, use the BIGGEST PIPE YOU CAN FIT
Gravity sux at transferring water, as it has no pressure, that's why rivers are such big things, yet we can pump the same volume in a much smaller pipe, halfway around the country
