Little different than previous question, but same topic.
This may have been answered elsewhere but I have not found it.
I am designing my system and need advice.

Some have grow beds on stands, other gorw beds sit on the ground.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each design?

Pros
you can get to the ones on stands more easily especially if your range of movement's not crash hot.
You don't have to bury your sump when your GBs are on stands.
The piping is easier to get to for modifications.
It looks 'cleaner' to use stands
If you don't have level ground, stands are a necessity.

Cons
You can't landscape away the 'clinical mechanics' of the garden if they're on stands
Stands cost money
Stands cost effort
Not having stands is a great excuse to procrastinate
You have to bury your sump (which hides the ugly tank)

The only real reason not to have stands is an aesthetic one.

Thanks Puda and hi.
I am thinking that the on ground ones would have an advantage of getting worms naturally migrating into the GBs.
Others have mentioned snails but I cannot see this a big problem as I wouldnt think they would like travelling over the media.

I have growbeds on low stands, due to a hill, the low end is about 200mm... then you have the 300mm wall to climb over to get to the veggies.
I still get issues with snails, not many though, as I believe you are correct and they don't like the sharp scoria I use.
The damage caused by one snail in an evening was horrific though... He ate all my carrots, the actual root!
