A place to discuss aquaponics

I'm open to whatever seems to be the most successful right now.
Eventually, I would like to have a mixture of leafy vegetables and attractive flowers/general plants in the bed.
I was thinking of Talapia for fish. Reports seem good, and I can eat them if they get too cramped.

Might need some creative thought. i wouldn't want to spoil your pond by floating styrene sheets on it

Maybe make a border gravel bed under the Shishi Odoshi, then it can dump water over the gravel that the plants are growing in. Something to start wiht anyway.

G'day MC, what your proposing looks fairly similar in design to natural swimming pools, have you ever had a look at them..? If you do a quick google for natural swimming pool design then you'll find some very interesting stuff..

You will undoubtedly have to adjust flows, fix leaks, unclog clogged drains, reposition pipes/pumps/filters, etc. - to achieve results.
The best thing any newbie can do is keep everything (including tank) easily accessible and observable. It's easy to be attracted to the asthetic aspect of AP, but it takes some time to learn what works and what doesn't as you can see by the amount of posts on this site. I would hate to see you try and dig up a leaky, cracked, or clogged pipe in an emergency. Many folks bury tanks in the ground, which also sits uneasy with me, but I find having everything open and accessible allows me to adapt to my learning curve.
